mm, the ending of luke cage s02 didn't sit well with me. most of the season didn't, really. i hope next season they do better.

the one thing they seemed to handle well was bushmaster. honestly, i was very much thinking that they'd kill him off at some point or throw him in prison. but the fact that he sorta just accepted defeat and eventually knew when to step back was good. honestly i hope he becomes a more positively portrayed character in future; i really liked him.

luke cage's personality changes, on the other hand, were uncalled for. i mean, he had a lot of bad influences and multiple kinds of power dangling in front of him. but he mostly seemed to use it for good. but he had so many people helping him out, it shouldn't have been a problem.

the growth of his ego felt forced. and i really don't like any of the possible stories that could come from this. like...why does it have to be a black man who's displaying how power can corrupt???

i get that jessica jones and luke cage are supposed to be "dark marvel" or whatever, handling more deep and unsavoury topics than the typical superhero properties. but it's a shame that properties meant to uplift marginalised folks instead end up upholding oppressive institutions, creating strawmen, and only exploring deep internal struggles of "am i really good or am i the real bad guy?" with marginalized characters? why are PoC-focused superhero properties always about infighting?

it's unsatisfying how many people turned out evil or something close. there wasn't really much of a happy ending. and not a whole lot of punching up either.
