I've seen quite a few videos like this, and not just recently but over the last 5+ years. I think eventually YouTube will demonetize everything - especially if they remain as a near monopoly - since that maximizes shareholder profit if video producers don't have other good alternatives.

It's also a common pattern. Video creator finds YouTube demonetizing or censoring their videos. Makes ranty video. Goes to $ALTERNATIVESITE. Finds they're mostly ignored on $ALTERNATIVESITE (that's not where the eyeballs are). Sometimes reluctantly returns to YouTube or more typically just gives up.

@bob Youtube is also cracking down on doing anything *but* going through youtube now. You're no longer allowed to link to your patreon in your end cards unless youtube's allowed to play ads on your video.

@bob (I got that info from Jim Sterling) per the same source, what you have to do at this point, apparently, is 1: upload it as...private, I think, to make sure you don't get copyright'd for 48 hours or so. Then you change it from private to public and unlisted, which lets you know if the ad friendly bot hates you. After another 48 there you can release the video. Something like that.

@tekk What I think is really needed is something like Mediagoblin but with federated search. It's the ability to search through an enormous archive which is the real value of YouTube.

@bob Federated search is a really interesting problem tbh, I'd be surprised if we don't see any work done on it.

@tekk It should be quite feasible. Use something like a DHT for video titles or descriptions.
