"Mastodon will begin keeping track who you engage with without following. For example, if you end up often boosting cat pictures that your friend boosts into your home timeline, perhaps you would want to follow the author of those cat pictures. The new API method will show such results. No user interface yet."

LITERALLY WHO ASKED FOR THIS SILICON VALLEY DONKEY BOLLOCKS? :blobugh:

@jo But Mastodon already keeps track of who you interact with, and much (all?) of it is publicly available over OStatus/ActivityPub for anyone to peruse. Whether you want this in your frontend is another question though, that users should decide for themselves.

For a bit of levity related to this, I saw a literally impossible feature request in the issue tracker:

"Opting out of showing up in follow suggestions #7966
If follow suggestions get implemented in a full release, I think it's important that users be able to opt out of showing up in follow suggestions, whether they're using Mastodon *or any other software it federates with*." (emphasis mine)
