why do all kid-oriented 3d platformers/collectathons look and sound exactly the same, as though they're all the same game with a different skin?

what in the mind of developers of 3d games translates "kid" into "smooth sculpted clay art style" and "upbeat and cheery but relatively homogenous orchestral pieces"

then again, someone can slap the word "survival" or "open world" on a game and promise realistic graphics, realistic/exaggerated physics, and some sort of power fantasy, and i'll probably eat it up
