getting kinda tired of the word anarchy being used as a synonym for chaos

all anarchy means is "non-hierarchical" in the same way asexual means "not sexual"

the implication that the lack of a government will permanently bring about a state of chaos until another government can be erected is propaganda

i mean really, is the state gonna tell you that you don't need them to have a functional society? nah, they're gonna insist that a nonconsensual dictatorial governing structure is the only way "order" can be maintained, whatever that is

and if you hear the word "order" and think of fascism, you're not far off. look at the state of society today! we talk about "order" all the time but what does that mean other than "more rules to hurt everyone and make them behave the same way"

order and control are fascist ideas that have taken root in our society and we really need to take a good hard look at what those words mean, because we use them a lot to refute ideologies where the end goal is to spread power among the people, as if we can't all make decisions for ourselves and be nice to each other?

how many times have our parents insisted they know what's best for us when really they're just trying to pressure us into living a life they've set out for us? and many times when kids try to be themselves and take their own paths, it's called rebellion, a phase, something else that implies a lack of "order"

it's the same with government. we're all being infantilised and told we don't know enough/aren't smart enough to make decisions for ourselves.

we're also told that bigotry is human nature and will exist in any society, and the only way to get rid of bigotry is through erecting laws that prevent it. and yet in our current society...bigotry runs rampant in the ruling class more than it does the individual people.

sure, bigotry is everywhere in our society and bigots are common even in the lower class and among marginalised groups. but it's mostly all parroting the system that provides the foundation for our way of life.

people are bigoted not because they just find it fun to hate another group, but because life is scary, and the system we live under encourages people to act on that fear without using critical thinking skills.

we've jumped through hoops to justify and reinforce negative emotions to the point where we've built a whole system to teach us to do that from the minute we're born.

why? because the ruling class wants to rule, and we want someone to blame for the shit they put us through.

but it is so, so much easier to blame marginalised/minority groups than to call into question the entire foundation on which we were built, the society in which we live that gives us our sense of purpose and forward momentum

and politicians, parents, teachers, cops, basically any authority figures out there will teach us to fear and blame things we don't understand, so it's super convenient to just accept it.

and this is not an excuse. not one bit. we've been exploiting and hurting each other for centuries, but it's certainly not the default, and we absolutely can't just roll over and accept it.

no, not even if it makes us sick to our stomach or sends us into a panic. we're no better than any bigot out there if we ignore the truth to our own bigotry in favour of our own health and ignorance. putting yourself before others is not a good deed at all.

literally bigots will say they aren't on the hook for the mistakes of their ancestors, they aren't obligated to fix the system, all they have to do is live their lives as comfortably as possible and enjoy it.

nah. we're all obligated to right the wrongs of the present, past, and future, because nobody else will. and these same people ignoring the wrongs in society in favour of themselves, always just parrot the shit and then build it into something even worse

there is no natural force correcting everything, our system won't magically right itself because it's inherently flawed in so many ways, and there's no magical group of people out there that's gonna suddenly appear and fix everything for us.

believing in the system and perpetuating its myths of order and bigotry will get us all killed

we gotta make a stand even at risk to ourselves. the only "natural force" that's pushing us anywhere right now is bigotry digging us a deeper grave.

because we have centralised power, we have centralised bigotry. because we have centralised bigotry, we're all expected to play by that same script and contribute to keeping it intact.

centralised power means there's only one source of power that everyone but the ruling class is subject to

decentralised power is important to maintain a balance. if the president is corrupt, the police work for him, the intelligence agencies work for him. he cannot be held accountable but by the people.

but decentralised power allows everyone to hold everyone else accountable.

if we had the power to do it without getting arrested by police, having dictatorial laws pushed against us calling any actions of dissent "violence and terrorism", do you think we'd have all marched on washington and physically removed the president by now?

                          absolutely.

it's fear, gov, centralised power, keeping us complacent and powerless

voting is horribly broken and even harmful (not sure if i want to write up a post about that just yet) but it's not even majority vote that put that man in charge.

it wasn't the gerrymandering, voting restrictions (especially targeting poc), voter fraud, bribing officials, russian propaganda on social media.

it was things like the electoral college. it was the fact that trump is above the very laws he wants to impose on people despite being one of the most prolific "criminals"

the reason he still holds power is because we're all too scared to do anything.

it's certainly not going to get better because we already know voting will work in his favour or else be outright ignored.

and even if someone else gets to be president, the overton window has shifted and we've normalised so much that the status quo would consider literally anyone not calling for genocide to be acceptable at this point probably

talking about how we all need to vote is a security blanket, because the only options left are to rise up and fight this centralised power, and that's "too risky" even though we all know that society is headed down the tubes and won't get better any other way. and it'll get harder the more we put it off.

even if you know voting isn't the answer or consider it a throwaway action, the reality is you're causing harm by spreading the idea that voting can help fix this
