Did an 85km cycling trip yesterday out of which, 48km was either west or south westerly, against the south west monsoon winds in a highway with very little winds. It was a hard time cycling against the wind, but having gears helped. (This would have been impossible without a geared bicycle). I was reduced to travelling at 6-10kph when I was almost against the wind. The wind sometimes deflected me of course due to its varying speed too. The howling sound in my ears was sometimes very uncomfortable too.
.
Then there was a new challenge which I hadn't faced before - aerodynamic push/drag by passing vehicles. Whenever a big truck passes nearby me, the aerodynamic wake pushes me first when its front side passes and then pulls me when its rear side passes. This results in wobbling of my course, which was risky as there is only a small side lane about 2 feet across for pedestrians/2 wheel vehicles along the highway I was travelling.

On the way, two people in a motorbike asked me from where I was. My mountain bike and my helmet made me an odd man out I think. Also one person had a sort of chain-saw in his hand :P. I replied to them and they went without a word.
I was little nervous, with the recent spree of lynchings due to rumours of child lifters spread via whatsapp.

My destination was a village named Viralimalai. There was a small hill with a temple there (didn't visit as I was tired and cautious about going there). I had food there and then returned back.

Viralimalai sounds like a very popular destination

There is one temple in a small hill, that's all. I wasn't interested in any particular destination as my primary aim was to cycle long.
