So the feedback on my recent "Lightweight Linux" post has been...interesting.

I'm so glad the whole of the #Linux #Community isn't this bad!

@kev Ug, reddit. Maybe this makes me a snob, but that's one place I prefer to only dip a toe in occasionally. There's way to much poison there for me to want to stay for long.
@mike It's hard to avoid reddit. There's so much information there. I frequently end up there just when searching for an answer on DDG.
@kev the one benefit to a "lightweight" distribution, where packages installed is as minimal as possible, is that running updates uses minimum amount of storage and bandwidth. For the typical desktop user, though, this is basically meaningless (as you have said yourself).
Also, maybe I'm just so used to it being the norm on the Internet, I don't even notice hostility anymore (as if a fnord)
@kev great read. I will say I thought about your points, and when all is said and done you are largely correct. Modern hardware is hugely powerful compared to that of just five years ago.. still there is a case for thrifty software.... At least in an ideological sense.
Cheers!
