I'm surprised how easy it was to install a personal hubzilla instance on nearlyfreespeech.net, and it seems to be working quite well. It's true that I stayed up half the night "working" on it, but that was mostly just about needing to research various issues so I wouldn't end up doing something wrong - things that to other people with more experience would have been plain-sailing. There are still a couple of things to sort out, like permissions, cron and theme changes. NFS.net limits cronjobs to once an hour, though, on the other hand, posts seem to be coming in more frequently than that, so I don't quite get it.

It took me a while to realize that people outside hubzilla need to be -resubscribed.
I might have some forum questions later, but till now, I didn't need to ask anybody's advise on anything.

Likewise; though somehow I was following you already but with an RSS feed. When I cloned to this new instance I had to reconnect with everyone outside Hubzilla and I then discovered the error. May your power supply be uninterrupted and the monsoon rains be kind to you!
