      well it's been 30 min, and they haven't managed to give the switch a management IP address yet, and are busy trying to install WebEx  I think I will go to lunch.

         Well an hour and half later, these switches are running Debian 9 !

            These network dudes doing the config are weird. They keep saying Cisco IOS is a mainstream operating system, that it's not proprietary, and keep calling Debian a "niche" OS.
