   Talking with a friend I defined a "real" news source as one having an ombudsman. Looking around now I'm realizing that almost no one does anymore.

      @ted That does appear to be a relic of a more civilized era. I wonder what caused the change.

         @mhall119 I wonder if it is a belief that other papers can hold them accountable now. But, I'm not sure that's really the case.

         I imagine it just came down to expense.

            @ted Either that or the position was replaced by something more generic like social media manager or community manager

               @mhall119 they were a "Public Editor" for a while, but even those seem to have gone away.
