It must be said that the fediverse is still chaotic and confusing. I wonder if this filters out certain demographics and subsets of people in itself. Perhaps there is room for the fediverse and twitter etc to coexist after all.

Some people are happy with chaos, or have learned or been trained to sort through it. Others run screaming from chaos. There must be correlations between how people think about the world, and what they end up doing.

Others are fairly anti-Twitter, but while I go through my phases, I'm happy to be on there as a way of crossing divides and building bridges.

Come to think of it, so much of my upbringing has been couched in terms of *this* OR *that* thing. Choose your tribe. Computer wars. Brit pop. Even academic topics. Mastodon or Twitter is just another example. All of the best things, though, have come out of diverse things coming together, not apart.

@6gain Twitter is still a proprietary centralised silo. In the end it means that any cooperation with them is on their terms and at their mercy.
