      So lesson for the future: if you're trying to get GNU/Linux into public administration then don't roll your own distro.

        @bob Maybe. I had second thoughts on this lately. How do you mantain the templates and tweaks to comply with weird public specs on say 1,000 workstations? Would you update from a vanilla distro and then redo the changes on every machine? Maybe a repo is the best option... but you should include it on the budget list and don't get too carried away about names and UIs. From and ignorant perspective.

          @platano I don't know the details of the Munich case, but what I expect to have happened would be that they originally budgeted for some developers to maintain the distro but that later that budget got cut.
