I saw somebody saying that it's better when computers come with developer tools so that anybody who wants to can learn to program the computer, and I agree.
This is why I like #OpenBSD. Not only is the shell itself programmable (but almost all Unix shells are), but you have the option of installing developer tools and documentation as part of the base system.
If shell, sed, awk, Perl, and C don't appeal, there's more in the packages.
