Lars Ulrich gave an interview saying he had friends over for dinner and they asked for a peek at the new album except the band hadn't gotten copies themselves yet so one of his friends went and torrented it and Ulrich basically said "and that was kind of all there was to it and it meant my friends got to listen to it so... huh"
