Twitter and Facebook condition people to certain types of behaviour that isn't always suitable for the alternative social networks. In a less obvious way, the alternative networks also come with their own behavioural protocols. My ideal would be a completely neutral desktop or browser client that can handle any network but which does not impose too much. Like email. Usually companies and software developers put their main efforts into the native user interface of their systems, rather than working towards interactivity. The indieweb idea of getting people to interact from their own websites would be great if it worked better. Hubzilla is an option that allows the creation of a complete web presence while allowing one to interact almost everywhere.
