I never thought the day would come when I didn't care enough about having a working Wacom tablet to bother buying a new one, but here we are.

I reached peak artist. The amount of effort required to reach the next level meant putting in hard work instead of having fun. I got no satisfaction from drawing anymore because I was no longer pleased with my output, and I laid down my pencil.

The story is similar for my music making. I reached a point where I'd have to put in actual hard work to produce a quality of output that I'd get a sense of satisfaction from. Like with the drawings, I did put in that effort occasionally, but it was blood, sweat and tears every time, and I just didn't want to accomplish that quality level badly enough to find it worthwhile, so I reached peak musician and more or less quit doing music.

As for software development? Well, if it weren't for the fact that it pays the bills, I'd probably only pick it up now and then to fiddle with it, unless some time consuming task needed automation.

I guess the conclusion is that I don't really have any of my old passions anymore. There is one thing I voluntarily spend more time on than anything else, though...

        Microblogging.

Short form stream-of-consciousness writing is my favourite hobby. It's a shame you don't win a prize for it.

I guess I'm more like my dad than I like to admit. His career choice? Journalism.
