Thoughts on privilege and a personal mistake
When I was more frequently engaging people on Twitter around #discrimination, I used to repeat that privilege wasn't a guarantee to be better off, but just a better likelihood of being given the benefit of the doubt.
Today after writing a grossly misplaced comment, I was called out for it. Even my apology got criticized. I started to feel the whole thing was a little unfair and blown out of proportion, but then I remembered that I just am used to be given the benefit of the doubt when I make a mistake.
