   I heard that unlike other social networks, Mastodon doesn't have Nazis, TERFs, or conservative relatives. So now I'm here!

   I'm a desert-dwelling grad student currently finishing up a dissertation on the history of anarchism and free love in the US c. 1880-1920.

   My interests include feminism, hiking, weird antiques, making things, cooking things, and telling you how adorable my dog is.

      @goldest Welcome! Yes, Nazis and other terrible people are not welcome here, and I've had a good experience on Masto. I'm also a historian. If you want to post history stuff, use the hashtags #historodons and #beforemoderntimes. And please post pics of your dog! "Cat Mastodon" is well developed, but "Dog Mastodon" is still in its formative stages. The hashtag for cute dog stuff is #mastodogs.

      @goldest The bad news is that we still have some of those reactionary jerks. The good news is that most instances are pretty good about banning/blocking/muting them.
