I decided that I needed something a bit more user friendly than a spreadsheet to keep my food calorie table in, so I found an app named Airtable. It works a bit like an Access database or Excel spreadsheet. There's a tabular view, a form view and a gallery view. You can add input fields and computed fields and attach images or other files to entries. There's also support for barcodes.

The food calorie database I'm keeping, as rendered on a desktop computer in gallery mode. It's a lot easier to find what you're looking for when there are pictures.
