At which point in history did "communes" become a thing we all wanted to start with our friends? I mean, I feel like such discussions increased along my personal timeline, despite really traumatic experiences happening (Branch Davidians and Heaven's Gate come to mind)...

And yet, nearly everyone I ask has at some point mused on starting a metaphorical commune (I don't think many get into actual details).
