@noorul there is no clear consensus on the boundaries of these terms. As a rule of thumb, the birdsite (like the #fediverse) is a micro-blogging site, because it's more about *publishing* short posts to a network of subscribers who may not know you. FB is a social network because it's designed around establishing 2-way "friend" connections between people who already know each other.

@noorul what confuses matters is that people can use the birdsite as a social network by moderating follow requests, and following everyone who they allow to follow them. Also, if they making all their posts on the birdsite private, it's no longer *publishing*. Similarly, some people (politicians, celebrities, and other influence marketers) use FB as a micro-blogging site, by making everything they post there public, and allowing "friend" requests from anyone whether they know them or not.
