Pinebook, OS choice
When my Pinebook arrives, should I run Nix/OpenBSD on it?-

@clacke
Only $100 ???
https://www.pine64.org/?product=pinebookI had to look-up Pine when I saw your post. I can't believe how cheap they are. You'll need to report back on the hardware quality, when it arrives.
As for distro, I don't know, Alpine Linux, maybe?

Now happened to come across this: > Oh. Well, back in 1995, putting 256 megs of RAM in a router sounded like a big deal. Nowadays, you can get a $99 Sheevaplug with twice that. And let me tell you, the routers used on Internet backbones cost a lot more than $99.

In 2011 you got a 512 MB SheevaPlug for 99 USD. Today you get a quad core 2 GiB laptop with screen and keyboard.
Moore's Law may be dead, but we haven't stopped entirely.
