    Why do social justice advocates always insist on explicitly listing the dozen or so ways that Thou Shalt Not Discriminate, rather than adopting a blanket be nice policy?

    The only reason I can think of is to make it easier and more acceptable to discriminate based on reasons that didn't make the list.
