American Vandal is more engaging than most actual true crime documentaries.

@ink_slinger
I loved the first season of American Vandal because it so perfectly lampooned the self-important, pretentious tone of "Making a Murderer," which was a horrible show that was totally cynical and manipulative. AV was actually a pretty brutal rapier right to the guts of a corrupt deception. I've only seen the first ep of the new season but I'm loving it so far.-

@seanmunger Yeah, I'm only on episode two of season two and it's great (and gross) so far. I love the way they've created an entire meta-fiction about the origins of season one (it was on Vimeo, then Netflix bought it and gave us a bigger budget for 3D graphics) -- totally fits the way some doc producers get a big head and brag about themselves when they get to make a sequel/follow-up.

@ink_slinger I love that bit too! (And the hand job graphic, haha).
FWIW, I did a review of "Making a Murderer" on my blog when it first came out. Perhaps I should do a review of "American Vandal" 1&2, in retrospect.
