    I wonder if it would be possible for #XMPP clients to implement the #P2P voice/video calling protocols used by #Ring and #Tox? This might work better than the current solution(s), and take a lot of stress off the servers in the XMPP network.

      I guess that depends on both the Ring and Tox protocols having an independent security audit though, so clients are promising features those protocols can't deliver. Not sure if Ring has been audited yet, and Tox is very much an alpha protocol, with many security issues they are aware of, and working on documenting and addressing.
