I've been thinking a lot about the philosophy of mathematics lately. What _is_ it that we are studying when we do mathematiks?
Are we studying eternal platonic objects that are supposedly numbers? Are we just studying patterns or structures? Are we merely mentally constructing systems? What is mathematiks?
