    @colomar @measlytwerp @outkine @mooshoe hmm I'm not sure if I agree with the "learn what you want" principle. Maybe at the latter stages of school, but not early on.

    Thing is, kids don't know what they don't know. They don't know what they're interested in - for example, I didn't know I loved biology until I was forced to study it in high school.

    Secondly, people still need to have core skills that are interdependent. Programming can be useless without maths, for example.

      @colomar @measlytwerp @outkine @mooshoe if we went down that route, I think we would end up with a bias towards things that are perceived as more fun - Physical Education, design technology, IT and the more "boring" subjects will end up being under subscribed.

      I do think that the education system requires dramatic reform. Students should learn more life skills IMO; how to manage finances, how to get a mortgage, taxes etc.

      This is all incredibly important stuff that simply isn't taught.
