    @rbe_expert This has long been a pet peeve of mine. Unfortunately, it's still going strong.

    What amazes me is so many tech people buy into this kind of thinking to the point they're amazed when the speed of progress doubles about every 2 years. It's almost as if someone should make some laws that state things get twice as good every two years.

    Do people really not realize that AI will not only get better but as it gets better AI itself will increase the speed at which it gets better?

      @rbe_expert What might make more sense is to claim that 'we', those living today shouldn't be too worried about AI because it's too far off.

      However I believe that's wrong too. But that's at least a position I can understand. Thinking the future of AI equals the current state is insane.

      Moreover, the current state of AI is good enough to take many jobs now. I believe even if AI development stopped right now, it would still take more and more jobs as implementation details are sorted out.
