As a Type 2 Diabetic who is slowly eliminating vices, this research is just lovely.

Yo @PhoneBoy there is still hope. Remember that it wasn't that long ago...
Hey @YoVinnie the guy in that ad looks vaguely like me.
Meanwhile, my dad smoked 2 packs a day of Camels for 44 years. It wasn't even the lung cancer that killed him, it was the brain cancer.
We all die at some point, of course, but I hope to do a little better than my dad, who barely made it to 59.
Yo @PhoneBoy my Dad too. Had a lung shot out at Anzio and continued to smoke right up till he died. Heart attack got him before the cancer. He made it to 74.
I smoked the damn things too. Used to steal them from him and my uncle when I was a kid. Switched over to roll yer owns and kept at it for damn near 50 years. Just gave em up about 5 years ago
You have figured out that your kitchen/food is the best pharmacy. I'm gonna have a lash loosing some lbs. cuz of your efforts. tyfyc.
Well @YoVinnie, I'm glad you figured out the tobacco monster before it ate you.
I remember taking a drag off a cigarette once while I was holding for my granny, who was confined to a wheelchair and was going to the bathroom. She told if she ever caught me smoking one, she'd make smoke a whole one!
I thought it was disgusting as a kid, but I have smoked single cigarettes from time to time long after I became an adult. The odd one won't kill you, but a pack or two a day, yeah no.
As for the weight loss @YoVinnie some people seem to do better with it than others. Then again, some people are more strict with the whole fasting thing, incorporating a fully ketogenic diet, or something else.
I think even once a day, I notice that I still have an issue eating a little beyond when I should stop. While I have better control in general, it still feels like there's something psychological there I need to kick.
Yo @PhoneBoy I have found that as I got older, it is harder to take off the pounds. As my Wife put on the years, she took up baking as a hobby. Pies, cakes, puddings, and on and on.
We are coming up on the holy months of gluttony and I haven't dumped the pounds from last years tear.
I've done the shedding of weight in the past. I just need to bypass my lethargy. I packed on weight when I quit smoking. Glad I lost that before packing on these new pounds. I'm bout 25# over right now.
I wish I were only 25# above weight @YoVinnie, I've got a bit more to go than that.
