I can't believe I just read this.
Quebec's incoming premier is going to retain the crucifix hanging in the National Assembly, stating it is a historic symbol, NOT a religious one.
"In our past we had Protestants and Catholics. They built the values we have in Quebec. We have to recognize that and not mix that with religious signs."
...say what?
Of course this is as he moves forward banning some public officials from wearing hijabs and kippas.
