In this sense it could also compete with Facebook but more on the level of WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. DeltaChat is also an interesting approach to it, although I still see many unanswered questions/problems. But in general a mail client which doesn't sucks would be awesome. I always wonder why Gnome ignores this part while producing in all other areas great UX.
