    On today's #DogWalk my #Scottie friend didn't want to be photographed, so I took these shots instead.

    Reindeer lichen - Cladonia portentosa

    The Reindeer lichen are the lighter coloured, bushy (fruticose) objects in the centre of each photo. Confusingly, reindeer lichen is used for more than one species.

    They have a holdfast which anchors the lichen, in this case, to a rotten log. The lichen in photo 1 is ~10cm across.

    The addition of moss & grass gives the appearance of a mini shrub garden.
