   Just realized the "why don't they just leave" asked about bird site users sounds a lot like "why don't they just leave" asked when folks (mostly women) are stuck in abusive relationships.

      oh, when the penny drops. Suddenly there isn't so much of a need to answer that question, (not in the immediate sort of way at least) as many of the people asking don't really want to hear or listen.
