         1) candy
         2) annual societally-sanctioned indulgence of the Id
         3) less earth-destroying consumerism than xmas
         4) jack-o-lanterns allow far more creativity than xmas trees
         5) no bullshit expectations to travel long distances in shitty weather
         6) focus on family you chose rather than family you're born with
         7) creative, humorous exploration of common fears, annoyances, and disappointments
         8) candy
