    Can someone explain to me exactly when everyone started losing their minds? We had such a good run between 1968 and 2001. Looks like we're about to smash it all to pieces.

      I choose 1968 because it was a year of social change and the year Martin Luther King Jr. died. The following year, Apollo 11 brought humans to another planet for the first time.

      1989 was the high point, with the fall of the Berlin Wall and a number of other positive developments.

      I choose 2001 because it was the year of the Twin Tower attacks—the starting point for a major shift in rhetoric and geopolitics—the year we lost our innocence.
