I have very few friends who dare to see straight through my talk and tell me what they really think.

It would seem that what I've been doing for the past few months is avoiding shit I don't feel like doing, like submitting a stack of job applications, or taking a job I don't want to make ends meet.

My friend pointed out that intelligent people are usually very lazy and very cunning about it, and will go to great lengths to avoid doing actual hard work.

Intelligent people are also very good at self-deception, often making up elaborate stories in order to justify their actions.

It's useful to have honest friends who are also intelligent in such cases, because they can see straight through all of that, and confront you with the truth.

The line between a truthful remark and a hurtful one is very thin.
