Many of the affixes and much of the Grammar in this Anglo-Saxon text reminds me of German:
Þis wearð þa Harolde cynge gecydd
My knowledge of German isn't extensive, but to me, the sentence above looks a bit like:
Das worte dann Harolde könig gesagt
