@byttyrs i can relate to this. i used to be more defensive about that, mostly out of sheer terror (the public school system for me was *really* hard), but honestly, i'd rather people just see me for who i am, warts and all, than assuming i have abilities that i don't because of so-called "splinter skills" or whatever. or reading me in terms of functional labels rather than specific support needs, in context and in general, depending.
