This may not be quite what you have in mind, but another option is Friendica, which lets you follow Mastodon users and RSS feeds through the same stream.

You add RSS feeds to Friendica the same way you add friends, and they are displayed the same way too, RSS posts can be liked and shared. It's a sort of merger of RSS and the Fediverse.
