    Gotta wonder, is there any point to steam trading cards other than being able to close an 8 cent gap between your wallet and the price of the game you want to buy? Why on earth do people spend real money collecting those? I mean, I can understand MtG cards but these are completely useless virtual cards.

      @verius Gaining "levels" combining them allows you to have a larger friends list.  So yes, there's a point.  Why this is a requirement to have a larger friends list, fuck knows.

        @maiyannah Cause gamification. And Steam takes a percentage of each card sold (it's somewhere around 15-20% I think) so more card sales means more money for them.
