I can't help but think starting a moral panic about therapy dogs is a great PR tactic for distracting people from the causes of antibiotic resistance, like over-use, factory farming etc, many of which are very profitable ...

      @strypey @Kelly_NAproducR It's about harm reduction. Food, AC, medical staff, and all sorts of things are variously required in a hospital. "Therapy dogs" are not. This is about limiting an unnecessary vector of pathogens from a place full of infectious and immune-compromised people.

      It's not a smoke-screen, any more than mentioning that the office is on fire is not intended to be a distraction from other workplace safety concerns.
