About the EBT thing, I suspect the rules have changed in the last 3-4 years. In #Baton_Rouge, #LA, there’s a gas station that sells fried chicken that tastes like Popeye’s spicy chicken, only better. I noticed a couple of years ago that they had a sign saying they now accept EBT for hot food purchases. I don’t know what restrictions, if any, remain.

I remember when the local food distribution programs (at least the one that kept #sonTwo and me alive) handed out dried goods: rice, beans, potatoes. They also gave out bags of real onions and real garlic. It was all “cooking food”.

From what I’ve heard, the ones that are still operating give out microwave meals (high in fat and sodium).
