We were going to go out to a tree farm and cut our own Christmas tree today, but then my child decided to be a giant asshole the entire morning, so instead we're still using the busted tree, with a string of outdoor lights. It works well enough for now. We'll probably give it away after this holiday season (maybe someone else has the skill and inclination to fix it, or they could just do like what we've done) and then either buy a new one on Boxing Day or become a real tree family.

OK, I lied. Wife found clearance prices on last year's trees at Canadian Tire and figured they wouldn't get cheaper at Boxing Day, so we got a new one. No picture yet because I need to fluff it up to actually look nice. The old tree will either go out on the lawn for the season or, possibly, be given to some friends who will be unexpectedly back in the city for Christmas (for bad health-related reasons) and could probably use the cheer.

OK, just to close the loop (lol corporate speak), here's a picture of the new tree, fully decorated.
