Strypey@Angle I haven't tried #Duolingo but I just installed #AnkiDroid from F-Droid for language-leaning flash cards. It uses as open format so in theory card decks could be made for learning anything you want. The Anki service it connects to is non-free but it's possible to connect to an alternative hub for sharing card decks.
