Dreadful! Why do they do this shit? I'm not sure why Weather Channel even need to keep geo location data, unless you're some kind of mobile weather station? Something about as dreadful happened when Hubby tried using Siri with location services off; she wouldn't answer his question. He tested Siri with "Where can I buy pizza in Watertown, MA"? Why does Apple need to know we live there, in orer to answer a question? -

In general, data is collected because executive staff is obsessed with metrics and ad revenue. Weather Channel needs a location to give you a local forecast, it's directly available in your phone, the rest is easy. -

I have Weather Underground as my browser start page, and get my local forecast by putting a zip code into the request. I think the site can take "city, state", zipcode, or "country" as inputs.
