the very concept of an hourly wage is robbery. it's designed to trick you into thinking you're getting paid for your time. You're not. You're getting paid for your labor, and it's being devalued

But there are plenty of ways to get robbed while getting paid. People get salaries that are inadequate to cover the amount of work required by their job description. Getting paid per task, a la #MechanicalTurk, doesn't seem any more empowering either. Contract work gives flexibility to workers, but even more to employers, and it's hard to get a mortgage when most or all of your work in short-term contracts.
