@drbjork I don't know how Sweden works, but here in the US, I'd tell someone to get a post-doctoral position, get some NSF funding, & get back in the game that way.
Working in the real world wouldn't be an obstacle to readmission, but we'd want to see some skill demonstrated in navigating academia.
