Brian ÓThe whole "preferred pronoun" thing is a nice idea, but I don't think it's practical to keep a mental inventory of the preferences of every single person I find myself needing to refer to. I would much rather get rid of gendered pronouns. Not all languages use them, yet they seem to communicate without difficulty.
