In our cyberpunk *present* where megacorporations ruin lives, create global fascism, and end habitability of Earth past 2030, w/ extinctionary-capitalism, cliche 80's retrofuture is escape from futurelessness. And yet, true *punk* - resistance to overwhelming oppression - seen in works like Neuromancer, The Windup Girl, Sorry to Bother You, & mass-protests at pipelines and Paris streets, is more necessary than ever.
