    I just learned about California's high speed rail project on https://www.kcrw.com/news-culture/shows/design-and-architecture/the-uncertain-future-of-californias-bullet-train

    wondering what @bthall and @lnxw48a1 think of it.

    I definitely did not know that it was already under construction!

      @kai @bthall Too expensive and covering only very limited areas. They need to add more to the rights of way that they acquired for it to assist with amortization or it will be a perpetual money-loser.

      Maybe fiber optic cables that could be leased to cellular phone companies and residential ISPs. Or maybe a viaduct that carries desalinated water to parched areas

        @kai @bthall Let me add: I support high speed rail in the state. I think they are tackling a difficult issue, decades after it should have happened, but they need an even bigger end goal.
